Our Privacy Protection Policy

We at Gesmonde, Pietrosimone & Sgrignari, LLC are very concerned with protecting the privacy of our clients and the information that we obtain from or about our clients. We take our ethical obligation of sustaining the attorney client privilege very seriously. In addition to this ethical obligation of maintaining the confidentiality of information provided to us by our clients, applicable law requires our firm to create and publish a Privacy Protection Policy with regard to how we protect the use of personal information and social security numbers. This Privacy Protection Policy covers not only the personal information and social security numbers we obtain from our clients but also the personal information and social security numbers that we obtain or that are provided to us of parties who are not our clients. It is our intention to protect the confidentiality of personal information and social security numbers of all people that we obtain or which are provided to us. Personal information is information that is capable of being associated with an individual such as a driver’s license number, state identification numbers, account numbers or health insurance identification numbers. As used in this Privacy Protection Policy notice personal information and social security numbers are sometimes referred to collectively as “personal information”.

How we protect the confidentiality of personal information and social security numbers.

At Gesmonde, Pietrosimone & Sgrignari, LLC, we obtain personal information and/or social security numbers from our clients or other parties only if we need the personal information during the course of our representation of our clients. We do not arbitrarily obtain personal information from any person. We do not obtain personal information from our clients and any other person until such time as we need it and the personal information we obtain is used in connection with the representation of our clients. At the time we obtain a client’s or other party’s social security number, we disclose our need for the social security number and how we will use that social security number. If our firm is provided another party’s social security number in our representation of a client, our use of that social security number is only for the purpose of representing our client and we do not use the other party’s social security numbers for any other purpose.

How we prohibit the unlawful disclosure of personal information and social security numbers.

At Gesmonde, Pietrosimone & Sgrignari, LLC, we only use personal information obtained by us in the representation of our clients. We do not disclose social security numbers to a third party without notifying our client of our need to do so and the reason for the disclosure. We do not disclose personal information except if such disclosure is required by us according to a law or in a court proceeding. It is not our policy to disclose personal information obtained by us or provided to us in a manner or for a purpose that contravenes state or federal law.

How we limit access to stored personal information and social security numbers.

At Gesmonde, Pietrosimone & Sgrignari, LLC, we store social personal information and security numbers with the appropriate physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with our professional standards.  Such information is used and/or preserved only for the purpose for which it was obtained or provided to us during the representation of our clients.
